True balance doesn’t start in the body, it starts in the mind.
These kinds of arm balances always remind me how much yoga is connected with our inner state. If the mind is distracted, the body feels unstable. But when the breath becomes steady and the focus becomes calm, suddenly the posture starts feeling lighter.
This practice needs strength in the arms, openness in the hips, core engagement, stability, awareness and trust in yourself at the same time. But more than physical strength, it teaches patience and presence.
Some days the posture comes easily, some days it doesn’t and that’s also part of yoga. Learning to stay calm, breathe through challenges and keep showing up with awareness.

It felt like a blessing to meet these three yoga teachers from Italy here in Varanasi. Very grateful they came to practice with me. Connections like this continue beyond the mat.

Inverted asanas, for instance, simultaneously calm and stimulate the brain. These asanas activate glands and vital organs by supplying fresh blood to the brain, making it alert but relaxed.
The alleviation of pain is, even today, one of the main reasons for the journey into yoga for most people. Yoga asanas work on specific parts of the body to soothe and relax the mind as well.
